The 10 Commandments of Authenticity for Leaders

These are 10 laws you should strive to live by every day to stay true to who you are. Law:

1. You shall accept yourself completely, wholly and without contempt of any part.
   ↳Suppression of any part is limiting the breadth and depth to which you can blossom
2. You shall speak your mind and not choose silence when something needs to be said.
   ↳Not speaking the truth and choosing silence when you have something to say are both lies and the first person you lie to is yourself
3. You shall embrace vulnerability.
   ↳It is through vulnerability that true love and connections are forged.
4. You shall practice self-compassion.
   ↳Treat yourself with kindness and understanding, especially in moments of failure, moments you don’t know what to do or say, or moments of struggle or difficulty.
5. You shall honor your values and core beliefs.
   ↳Aligning your actions with your core beliefs is true integrity which yields internal harmony and peace.
6. You shall celebrate your uniqueness and that of others.
   ↳There is no one like you upon the earth; never was and never ever shall be. Study yourself not only to find fault, deficiencies and weaknesses but more so to find strengths, gifts, beauty, excellence.
7. You shall seek genuine connections.
   ↳Cultivate relationships based on truth, openness, respect and authenticity, limiting superficial interactions.
8. You shall live with intentionality
   ↳Make conscious choices that align with your true self, rather than compulsively conform to external expectations or pressures. Avoid repeating past choices that are at odds with your true self simply because that’s how you’ve always behaved. Be intentional. Avoid the need to fit in everywhere. You are not a chameleon. Be at odds. Standout! Be different! Be awkward! Be weird. Be YOU!
9. You shall admit your mistakes.
   ↳No one is perfect. Acting as if you are is a form of self-rejection and a lie. When you aknowledge and take responsibility for mistakes it is a big strength and it inspires others to see your heart, humility and humanity.
10. You shall lead by example.
    ↳Actions must reflect words; demonstrate the behavior you wish to inspire for character communicates most eloquently.
